Material Handling Equipment Commissioned at New Vietnamese Steel Works
09/08/2015 - Germany’s SCHADE Lagertechnik is delivering bulk material handling equipment to Formosa Plastic Group’s Ha Tinh steel and power complex in Vietnam, SCHADE has announced.
The equipment order, which consists of 21 machines, is among the largest in SCHADE’s history, the company said. The equipment will support operations at the complex, which consists of an integrated steel mill, coal-fired power plant and seaport.
According to SCHADE, the steel mill is being designed with an initial capacity of 5 million tons per year. Two later phases of construction will increase its capacity to 22 million tons per year, the company said.
The equipment order includes six tripper carriages and six semi-portal scrappers. The steel mill will be serviced by four of the scrappers and four of the tripper carriages. The remaining two carriages and two scrappers will service the power plant.
The tripper carriages each have a capacity of 5,400 tons per hour. The scrappers have a discharge capacity of 2,200 tons per hour and track distance of about 134 feet.
The steel mill’s flux yard is being serviced by a 1,200 tons-per-hour portal scrapper, which has a track distance of about 160 feet. The mill also bought two boom stackers, one of which has a capacity of 3,200 tons per hour. The other has a capacity of 360 tons per hour.
The order also includes six rail-bound conveyor wagons. SCHADE Lagertechnik is an Aumund Group company.
