Marcegaglia Ravenna to Upgrade No. 1 Galvanizing Line
09/10/2020 - Marcegaglia has chosen Danieli Centro Combustion to upgrade the furnace at its No. 1 galvanizing line in Ravenna, Italy, reports the equipment supplier.
According to Danieli, the upgrade will consist of three phases of modification. The first phase will involve the replacement of the furnace’s direct-flame burners, flame control and ignition systems, combustion air fan and exhaust fan, as well as the installation of a new heat exchange system. The second stage will revamp the radiant tubes section, with updates to the flame control and ignition systems and installation of a new exhauster fan and pressure control system to handle waste gas. Finally, the after-pot cooling tower will be upgraded with new blowers, diffusers, and quenching and drying equipment. Danieli will also update the No. 1 line’s power center, drive panels and level 1 control system.
The revamp will increase the furnace’s output up to 160 metric tons/hour, Danieli estimates. The project will also reduce the line’s fuel consumption and NOx emissions.
Project completion is slated for January 2021.
