Magnetek’s New Dynamic Braking Units Offer Advanced Features for Improved Operation
05/15/2014 - Magnetek Inc., a provider of digital power and motion control systems for the material handling industry, announced the launch of the full line of their CDBR-D dynamic braking units.
Magnetek’s dynamic braking units work in concert with dynamic braking resistors to dissipate excess energy produced by motors controlled by our IMPULSE® variable frequency drives. By removing the energy produced by decelerating and stopping, CDBR-D’s reduce potentially damaging heat in the motors.
New CDBR-D dynamic braking units offer advanced features including short circuit protection with an independent fault output, more diagnostic LEDs, and more available voltage threshold settings. Additionally, the CDBR-D units are rated to 60°C ambient operating temperature.
“Our CDBR-D dynamic braking units require up to 40% less panel space than in previous generation CDBR-B models,” said Jason Wellnitz, Magnetek’s controls product manager. “This reduces enclosure and panel costs for our customer and increases catwalk space on the crane.”
