Longtime Nucor Leader Retires as Two Earn Promotions

According to Nucor, starting 9 March 2025, Murphy will begin to transition out of his current role. Benjamin M. Pickett and Douglas R. Wilner, both elected to vice president roles within Nucor in 2023, will succeed him.

Pickett will be promoted to executive vice president of business services while Wilner will be promoted to president of corporate legal affairs and general counsel, the company announced.

"Ben and Doug are accomplished leaders and uniquely suited for these positions. I look forward to continuing to work with them in these expanded roles," said Leon Topalian, Nucor’s chair, president and chief executive officer.

For his remaining few months, Murphy will act as an advisor to Topalian. He will also collaborate with Pickett and Wilner to ensure a seamless transition.

"On behalf of the entire Nucor team, I want to thank Greg for his extraordinary leadership and thoughtful counsel. During his tenure at Nucor, Greg transformed our legal, environmental and public affairs teams,” said Topalian.

“He is the epitome of a servant leader who prioritizes the needs of the team, tirelessly mentors and develops others, and tackles challenges with empathy and integrity,” Topalian added.
