The Spanish company Sidmed SA of Sagunto, a member of the Arcelor Group, recently awarded LOI Thermprocess a contract for the second stage of the modernization project at its bell-type annealing plant.
LOI had previously replaced the entire instrumentation and control systems of 78 HNX annealing bases and 15 HPH® annealing bases (H2) and installed a new supervisory control system with level III interface. In the second stage of the project, 48 additional HNX annealing bases were equipped with advanced control systems for a higher degree of automation.
The more recent contract included design, supply, installation and commissioning of a control system with PLCs and MCC units. Each group of six bases is now controlled by a type S7 400 base control unit.
The entire modernization project was completed in 61 working days.
