Local Planning Agency Signs Off on Proposed California Mill
02/14/2024 - A county planning commission has OK’d Pacific Steel Group’s proposed rebar micro-mill, sending it to the board of supervisors for approval, reports the Tehachapi News newspaper.
“We look forward to delivering our project to the communities of east Kern County, offering hundreds of high-wage jobs and economic benefits to the region,” Mark Olson, Pacific’s vice president for mill operations, told the newspaper.
Pacific Steel, a rebar fabricator, is moving to vertically integrate by building a US$540 million Danieli micro-mill in California.
The mill is to produce 380,000 tons of straight and spooled rebar.
