Line Pipe Coating Facility Managed by Tenaris Receives Safety Recognition Award
02/25/2013 - Pipe Coaters Nigeria Ltd (PCN), the line pipe coating company managed by Tenaris, received a safety recognition award from Chevron and West Africa Ventures for its performance on the Escravos Gas Project 3A.
Pipe Coaters Nigeria Ltd (PCN), the line pipe coating company managed by Tenaris, received a safety recognition award from Chevron and West Africa Ventures for its performance on the Escravos Gas Project 3A (EGP3A), which is operated by Chevron Nigeria Limited together with the Nigerian National Petroleum Corp Western Delta Gas Development program.
“The EGP3A project was very important for PCN as it was the first large project secured locally after Tenaris took over the management and operations of the PCN coating facilities,” said Pedro Perez, commercial manager of PCN. “Furthermore it was a very challenging, unusual and complex project as Chevron required PCN to provide ideas and solutions to recover pipes already coated with Concrete Weight Coating (CWC) used in shallow waters, and to provide anti-corrosion Fusion Bonded Epoxy (FBE) and CWC over the recovered pipes.”
PCN was able to perform the stripping on almost 1,200 cured concrete coated pipes, leading to an accumulated total of 500,000 man hours, without any safety incident. On top of this big challenge, PCN had to deliver according to the customers’ laying campaign schedule. “Chevron and West African Ventures have recognized the high level of professionalism of the organization dedicated to the project, and consider PCN as their partner for new projects,” said Pedro Perez.
