Linde Group to Supply Gases for ArcelorMittal’s Romanian Operations
04/30/2008 - The Linde Group will construct a new air separation unit as part of its long-term contract for the supply of industrial gases for ArcelorMittal’s Romanian operations.
The Linde Group has signed a long-term supply contract for industrial gases with ArcelorMittal.
As part of the new agreement, Linde will construct a new air separation unit at ArcelorMittal's site at Galati, Romania, and refurbish existing assets with a total investment exceeding EUR 100 million.
"This agreement seals the long-term future of our partnership with one of our most important customers and confirms our market leadership in Eastern Europe," said Dr Aldo Belloni, member of the Linde AG Executive Board.
The Linde Group will start to implement improvement measures immediately after taking over operation of the existing industrial gas production operation in mid-2008, including initiating construction of the new air separation unit. The new unit will produce 2000 tonnes per day of oxygen, as well as smaller quantities of nitrogen and argon for ArcelorMittal's local steel production.
