Lincoln Electric Names New Head of International Welding Division

In his new role, Hedlund will lead day-to-day operations in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Russia and the Asian Pacific. He will oversee the implementation of strategic, operational and commercial initiatives, and will continue to serve as a member of the management committee.

“Steve’s extensive experience, process-driven approach and achievements in advancing our automation strategy will help drive the international welding segment’s next phase of growth and development with Air Liquide Welding,” Lincoln Electric chairman and chief executive officer Christopher L. Mapes said in a statement.

Lincoln Electric announced in April that it is acquiring the welding supplies subsidiary of France’s Air Liquide for about US$125 million.

Hedlund succeeds Mathias Hallmann, who is leaving Lincoln Electric to pursue other interests, the company said.
Hedlund most recently served as a senior vice president and president of global automation. He joined Lincoln Electric in 2008 as vice president of strategy and business development.
