Liberty House Revisits Bid for British Steel
10/23/2019 - Sanjeev Gupta’s Liberty House Group has renewed discussions about taking over financially troubled British Steel, the U.K.’s second-largest steel producer, according to Sky News.
Citing unidentified sources, Sky News said discussions between Liberty and the British Steel receiver have picked up momentum as an exclusivity period between the receiver and the preferred bidder is set to expire.
Chinese steelmaker Jingye also is said to have approached the government to express a renewed interest in buying British Steel. British Steel directly employs more than 4,000 people, with up to 20,000 more jobs in its supply chain relying on its survival.
