Large-Scale Environmental Project Successfully Implemented at Metalloinvest
06/07/2013 - Metalloinvest announced that a new gas purification unit has been launched at electric arc furnaces 3 and 4 at OEMK (part of Metalloinvest) in Russia.
The installment of the unit has been one of the company’s priority environmental projects. The installment of the new system of purification of steel furnaces gas emissions will enable the company to reduce the negative effects on the environment while also increasing steel output.
Eduard Potapov, CEO of METALLOINVEST, commented: “The installment of modern technologies reducing the burden on the environment is one of Metalloinvest’s ongoing priorities. The launch of a new gas purification unit is another step in this direction.”
The launch of the new gas purification unit at EAFs 3 and 4 has led to a reduction in the residual dust from gas emissions by 2.5 times. This has enabled the company to reduce the release of dust into the atmosphere at the two furnaces by 1.5 times. The level of dust in at the steel makers’ workplaces has fallen on average by 2 times.
