Kroman Çelik Sanayii Commissions More-Supplied Module Technology
10/07/2010 - Kroman Çelik Sanayii A.Ş successfully commissioned in July 2010 the Module Technology fix injection system supplied by More srl in a new 150-tonne electric arc furnace. Twenty-eight heats per day were reached two weeks from the start-up of the equipment.
Kroman Çelik Sanayii A.Ş, located in Gebze, Turkey, successfully commissioned in July 2010 the Module Technology fix injection system supplied by More srl (Gemona del Friuli, Italy) in a new 150-tonne electric arc furnace (EAF).
The technology optimizes oxygen and carbon injection in the EAF by side wall injectors, adding exothermic energy in addition to the electrical arc energy. The new AC EBT electric arc furnace is equipped with five Oxygenjet combined burners/supersonic-oxygen injectors and three carbon injectors, installed in copper bulged blocks protruding into the furnace to reach the optimum position in terms of oxygen/carbon stream length and vertical/horizontal angles.
The package also includes oxygen and natural gas valves stands, three MOCA-carbon dispensers, and electrical and automation system with human-machine interface.
The furnace has been equipped with the CATFIS automatic temperature/sampling manipulator. The equipment operates through the slag door and was installed to improve operator's safety by eliminating manual operation. It also avoids furnace power off and oxygen carbon injection interruption.
In the first month of operation, 70,000 tonnes of steel were tapped. Twenty-eight heats per day were reached after two weeks from the start-up of the equipment.
More now has 120 electric arc furnaces worldwide in operation or under manufacturing with the Module Technology chemical energy package.
