KOCKS Receives Order for SBQ Mill Equipment
05/18/2017 - Friedrich KOCKS GmbH & Co KG has won an order for a 4-stand reducing and sizing block from China’s Maanshan Iron & Steel Co. Ltd., the equipment supplier has announced.
In a statement, KOCKS said the reducing and sizing block is part of new special bar quality mill capable of producing 400,000 metric tons annually. The reducing and sizing block will be used to finish straight bars bound for the automotive, aerospace and mechanical engineering sectors, it said.
The equipment will be installed behind a continuous roughing and intermediate mill consisting of 22 stands in an H/V configuration. The equipment is designed for low-temperature rolling.
“At the core of the future-oriented (block) is the real-time, closed-loop control system, which further improves the rolled tolerances and simplifies the operation due to automated optimization of the roll gap settings and motor rpm,” the company said.
KOCKS also will outfit the block with its 4D EAGLE light-section measuring gauge and an automation package.
Commissioning is scheduled to occur in mid-2018.
