KOCKS Lands Orders for Bar Mill Rolling Blocks

In a statement, KOCKS said Benxi Iron & Steel Group, Walsin Lihwa Corp. and Shandong Laigang Yongfeng Iron & Steel Co. Ltd. have contracted for 3-roll blocks that will be installed in new and existing lines.

KOCKS said Benxi Iron & Steel will replace a 2-high sizing system on a special bar quality (SBQ) line with a KOCKS RSB® 370++/4. The unit will produce straight bars in diameters ranging from 12 mm to 80 mm. It will function as a finishing unit after the 14 conti-stands in the roughing and intermediate mill.

KOCKS said the unit will help the company expand its share in the SBQ sector for high-quality bearing steels and automotive steels.

Commissioning is scheduled for the second half of 2020.

KOCKS said the Walsin Lihwa order is for a RSB® 370++/4, which will become part of a greenfield mill being built in Yantai, China.

The unit will finish rounds in diameters ranging from 18 mm to 100 mm, hexagons ranging in size from 18 mm to 80 mm, as well as pre-rounds for the wire rod outlet.

The order also includes a KOCKS size control system, which allows real-time adjustments to the rolling block, and the 4D EAGLE® profile measuring gauge.

“The planned measures ensure the highest automation degree of the finishing mill with higher process monitoring capabilities and fastest adjustments, if required,” KOCKS said.

KOCKS said the Shandong Laigang Yongfeng order is for a RSB® 370++/4, which will be incorporated into a new SBQ line.
The line will have an overall capacity of 1 million metric tons annually and will be equipped with 22 conti stands in H/V configuration. The RSB will produce straight bars in diameters of between 13 mm to 90 mm.

Commissioning is scheduled for the second half of 2020.
