Kobe Steel, Ltd. announced the passing of Executive Vice President and Representative Director Keiji Koyama on Thursday, April 16 due to cardiac failure. He was 61 years old.
Born in Kagawa Prefecture on January 2, 1948, Keiji Koyama started with Kobe Steel in April 1971 after graduating from the Faculty of Letters, University of Tokyo in March of that same year.
He held a series of executive positions with the company, including Officer beginning in June 2001, Senior Officer beginning in June 2003, and Executive Officer beginning in April 2005. He was named Senior Managing Director in June 2006.
In April 2007, Koyama was named to his current position as Executive Vice President and Representative Director.
