Kentucky Scrap Facility Wins OSHA Safety Recognition
05/19/2017 - U.S.-based River Metals Recycling has announced that its Somerset, Ky., scrap yard has earned a special safety certification from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
The scrap yard was given OSHA’s Safety & Health Achievement Recognition Program certification, which is awarded to small businesses, those with 500 or fewer employees companywide and 250 or fewer at a given worksite.
The certification is offered to businesses that demonstrate a commitment to workplace safety and health through exemplary injury and illness prevention programs. Worksites that attain the certification are granted exemptions from certain OSHA inspections for at least two years.
“Congratulations to all RMR Somerset teammates on receiving SHARP certification,” said River Metals president Bob Eviston. “At RMR, safety is our No. 1 core value. This award is a testament to RMR’s comprehensive safety process, which includes ongoing training and procedures to ensure the safety of all teammates, customers, and suppliers.”
River Metals is wholly owned by The David J. Joseph Co., the scrap recycling arm of Nucor Corp.
