JSW Steel Reports Highest Ever Quarterly Crude Steel Production
04/09/2010 - JSW Steel Ltd. registered quarterly crude steel production of 1.6 million tonnes in Q4 FY 2010, a 66% increase over the corresponding quarter of last year and 9% sequentially.

The company also achieved its highest-ever quarterly production of 970,000 tonnes for rolled flat products, up 18% over Q4 FY 2009, and 320,000 tonnes for rolled long products, growth of 255%.
JSW’s crude steel production for the FY 2010 was 5.99 million tonnes, an increase of 61% over FY 2009. Considering the trial run production from the 2.8 million tonnes-per-annum expansion project up to April 10, 2009, overall crude steel production for FY 2010 was 6.02 million tonnes.
JSW has successfully commissioned phase I (3.5 million tonnes per annum) of the new Hot Strip Mill at Vijaynagar Works on March 28, 2010. This mill can roll up to 2100 mm width (which the company claims is the widest in India) and thickness range of 1.5 to 25 mm, which has been supplied by M/s. Mitsubishi-Hitachi of Japan.
The mill, which is under trial production, is equipped with new technology for shape control, level 2 & 3 automation, which has capacity to produce steel for special application in automobiles, boilers, structural, oil and gas pipelines, etc.
On completion of phase II, the capacity of the mill will further go up to 5 million tonnes per annum. It will also enable JSW to convert slabs into value-added hot rolled coils on its stabilization.
