JSW Steel Looks At Foreign Investments
08/29/2017 - India’s JSW Steel plans to grow capacity to 40 million metric tons and is eyeing acquisitions at home and abroad, reports the PTI news agency.
"Our mission is to become a 40 million metric ton steel company, and also we want to explore downstream units not only in India but abroad also. We have been examining various targets," joint managing director Seshagiri Rao told PTI.
One of those foreign targets appears to be Italian long products manufacturer Acciaierie e Ferriere di Piombino (Aferpi).
According to The Hindu Business Line, JSW is discussing a possible acquisition with Aferpi parent Cevital Group and may offer the equivalent of US$100 million for the facility.
"It is very, very difficult to comment at this stage. Nothing is final," Rao told PTI.
