JSW Steel Lines Up Financing for U.S. Plate Mill Modernization
10/27/2022 - JSW Steel has secured US$182 million in financing for the modernization of its Baytown, Texas, plate mill, the company reports.
According to the company, the financing consists of a US$112 million term loan and US$70 million under guarantee from the Italian Export Credit Agency (SACE). Italian plant builders Danieli, Tenova and Sideridraulic are building equipment for the project.
Danieli is supplying a cutting line and rolling mill equipped with accelerated cooling and direct quench capabilities, and Sideridraulic is providing a water treatment and cooling system. Tenova is supplying a grinding machine for the new rolling mill and related engineering services.
JSW Steel said the financing was structured by SACE's export finance division with the contribution of the SACE office in Mumbai, which has a long-standing relationship with JSW Steel.
