JSW Steel Inks Deal to Convert Slabs on ATI Rolling Mill
05/06/2021 - JSW Steel USA has signed a long-term tolling agreement with Allegheny Technologies Inc. (ATI), allowing JSW-made carbon slabs to be rolled into coils at ATI’s Brackenridge, Pa., rolling mill.
In a statement, JSW said having access to ATI’s Hot Rolling and Processing Facility will enable it to produce steels that maintain high strength at high temperatures. At the same time, ATI will lift the capacity utilization of the facility.
JSW said ATI is expected to hot roll “a significant percentage” of JSW slabs.
“This partnership with ATI allows us to supply the high-quality products required by our customers and is in line with our strategy of increasing the share of ‘melted and manufactured in the U.S.’ products in our product mix. The collaboration with ATI allows us to operate our electric arc furnace at the most optimal volumes and efficiency, lowering our conversion costs,” said JSW USA chief executive Mark Bush.
