JSW Reports 8% Growth in Crude Steel Production in First Half of FY11

JSW Steel Limited reported the production of 3.14 million tonnes of crude steel in the first half of fiscal year 2011, representing a growth of 8% compared to comparable year-ago period.
 
The company also produced 2.36 million tonnes of flat rolled products, a 32% increase vs. the first half of fiscal year 2010, and 570,000 tonnes of long rolled products, a 44% increase vs. the first half of fiscal year 2010.
 
For the second quarter of 2011, the company’s crude steel production stood at 1.57 million tonnes. The company also produced 1.27 million tonnes of flat rolled products and 0.26 million tonnes of long rolled products.
 
The company noted that it also has started generation of power at its 300-MW captive power plant, and has begun heating two out of four blocks at its Coke Oven-4 as part of the 10-MTPA expansion project at Vijayanagar works.
