JSW Reports 15% Growth in Crude Steel production for July
08/11/2011 - JSW Steel Limited reported the production of 599,000 tonnes of crude steel in July 2011, representing a growth of 15% compared to crude steel production of 520,000 tonnes in July 2010.
JSW Steel Limited reported the production of 599,000 tonnes of crude steel in July 2011, representing a growth of 15% compared to crude steel production of 520,000 tonnes in the same month last year (July 2010).
The company also reported the production of 424,000 tonnes of flat rolled products, a 3% increase from 412,000 tonnes in July 2010, and 114,000 tonnes of long rolled products, a 24% increase from 93,000 tonnes in July 2010.
During July, the company commenced operation of Blast Furnace-4 and Sinter Plant-4 as part of its 3.2-MTPA expansion project at Vijayanagar Works. These units currently are under trial run.
The company has cut its production by about 35% due to the shortage of iron ore resulting from the suspension of mining and transportation of iron ore in the Bellary district by the Honourable Supreme Court of India in its order dated 7/29/2011. Production would have been higher in July 2011 if the suspension of iron ore mining and transportation not been implemented.
The company was later able to restore production to 80% of installed capacity following the Honourable Supreme Court order dated 05/08/2011, in which NMDC was permitted to mine up to one million tonnes per month.
