Joint Venture Marks Start of Construction on New Service Center
03/08/2019 - Georgia-based Pacesetter Steel Service Inc. and a subsidiary of Japan’s Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal Corp. have broken ground on a 130,000-square-foot service center in Houston, Texas.
In an announcement, the joint venture partners, Pacesetter and Nippon Steel & Sumikin Bussan Americas Inc., said the center will allow the companies to tap growth in the southwestern U.S. and Mexico, supporting steel users in the HVACR, appliance, automotive, garage door, and metal building and roofing markets.
Called NSPS Metals, the joint venture will leverage the global relationships and technical expertise of Nippon Steel and the regional relationships and service center operating expertise of Pacesetter.
The facility is to be completed in 2020, with potential for a 260,000-square-foot expansion.
