Johnstown Wire Names New Chief Executive
09/12/2016 - A manufacturing executive with more than 30 years of experience has taken the helm of Johnstown Wire Technologies Inc.
J. David Reed succeeds Ron Shaffer, who is retiring, as president and chief executive of the carbon and alloy wire manufacturer. Reed previously served as president of Essex Group Inc., an industrial magnet wire maker.
“We are excited for David to join the Johnstown Wire team. We welcome his experience and leadership as we continue to grow and invest significantly in new technology and equipment at Johnstown,” said Christopher H. Thomas, a partner with Aterian Investment Partners, which owns Johnstown Wire.
“In his new role, he will continue to focus on building strong partnerships with Johnstown’s customer base while delivering best-in-class quality and engineered solutions,” Thomas said.
Prior to Essex, Reed served as president of the Little Tikes and Anchor Hocking Glass divisions of Newell Brands. He holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Youngstown State University. His appointment is effective 12 September.
