JFE Receives Pipe Orders for SWQP Stage 3 Expansion Project
12/01/2009 - JFE Steel has been awarded a line-pipe order for about 42 KMT of API5L X70 ERW (electric resistance welded) for the South West Queensland Pipeline (SWQP) Stage 3 Expansion Project operated by Epic Energy in Australia.
JFE Steel Corp. has been awarded a line-pipe order for about 42 KMT of API5L X70 ERW (electric resistance welded) for the South West Queensland Pipeline (SWQP) Stage 3 Expansion Project operated by Epic Energy in Australia.
The SWQP is a 935-km pipeline from Wallumbilla in Queensland to Moomba in South Australia. Stage 3 Expansion Project, involving the construction of a new pipeline adjacent to the existing SWQP, will allow Epic Energy to more than double its gas transportation capacity on the SWQP. The total line pipe order for the project is about 90 KMT.
ERW line pipe for this project will be produced at the 26-in medium-diameter pipe mill at JFE's Chita Works. Technological features of the mill include full cage forming method; the mill is capable of producing the largest outside diameter pipe of 660.4 mm (26 in) with wall thickness of 25.4 mm (1 in), according to JFE.
