Japanese Steelmakers Tell China to Bring Production in Line With Demand
02/27/2020 - The chairman of the Japan Iron and Steel Federation has called on Chinese steelmakers to curtail steel production as steel inventories build due to the coronavirus outbreak.
“We want to warn that Chinese steel mills should adjust their output to reflect declining manufacturing activities,” said federation chairman Yoshihisa Kitano, according to the Reuters news service.
The Bloomberg news service reported earlier this week that Chinese rebar inventories have reached an all-time high as the virus has slowed the economy.
