Japanese Steelmakers Consider Increasing Electrical Steel Investment
12/07/2022 - Nippon Steel Corp. and JFE Steel Corp. are eying additional investments in electrical steels as demand for electric vehicles increases, according to the Bloomberg news service.
“Considering the trajectory of the EV transition, it looks like supply will be insufficient,” Nippon Steel’s Takahiro Mori told Bloomberg.
JFE Steel, meanwhile, is keeping options open, such as building an overseas plant in North America or another region with strong demand.
