Japanese EAF Operator Explores Daytime Operations
07/24/2023 - Japan’s Tokyo Steel plans to move some of its operations to daytime production, taking advantage of surplus solar power, reports Nikkei Asia.
According to the publication, the steelmaker typically operates during off hours to cut electricity costs. But as solar farms have proliferated in southern Japan, a local utility is looking to better balance electricity supply and demand and has asked the steel producer to explore daytime production.
