Japanese DRI Demonstration Project Selects ENERGIRON Technology

In a statement, Tenova said it is partnering with the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization to build the experimental plant at Nippon Steel Corp.’s Hasaki research and development center.

The project is a collaborative effort among Nippon Steel, JFE Steel Corp., and the Japan Research and Development Center for Metals.

“With this contract, it has been confirmed once again that ENERGIRON is the best available cutting-edge technology for DRI plants. We are delighted to contribute to this project and supply the very first experimental direct reduction plant fed by hydrogen in Japan,” said Stefano Maggiolino, Tenova HYL president and chief executive officer.
