ITC to Uphold Duty Orders on Stainless Pipe from Korea, Taiwan

The U.S. International Trade Commission determined that revoking the existing antidumping duty orders on welded stainless steel pipe from Korea and Taiwan would be likely to lead to continuation or recurrence of material injury within a reasonably foreseeable time.

As a result of the ITC's affirmative determinations, the existing orders on imports of this product from Korea and Taiwan will remain in place. All six Commissioners voted in the affirmative.

The action comes under the five-year (sunset) review process required by the Uruguay Round Agreements Act, which requires the Department of Commerce to revoke an antidumping or countervailing duty order, or terminate a suspension agreement, after five years unless Commerce and the ITC determine that doing so would be likely to lead to continuation or recurrence of dumping or subsidies (Commerce) and of material injury (ITC) within a reasonably foreseeable time.

The sunset review concerning welded stainless steel pipe from Korea and Taiwan was instituted on July 1, 2011. On October 4, 2011, the ITC voted to conduct expedited reviews.
