ITC to Revoke Duties on Stainless Steel Bar from Five Countries

The U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC or Commission) will revoke its existing countervailing duty order on stainless steel bar from Italy, and the antidumping duty orders on this product from France, Germany, Italy, Korea, and the United Kingdom.

The decision follows the Commission’s five-year (sunset) review and determination that revoking the existing orders would not be likely to lead to continuation or recurrence of material injury within a reasonably foreseeable time.

Chairman Daniel R. Pearson, Vice Chairman Shara L. Aranoff, and Commissioners Deanna Tanner Okun and Irving A. Williamson voted in the negative. Commissioner Dean A. Pinkert voted in the negative with respect to France and the United Kingdom and voted in the affirmative with respect to Germany, Italy, and Korea. Commissioner Charlotte R. Lane voted in the affirmative.

This action comes under the five-year (sunset) review process required by the Uruguay Round Agreements Act.

The five-year (sunset) reviews concerning Stainless Steel Bar from France, Germany, Italy, Korea, and the United Kingdom were instituted on February 1, 2007. On May 7, 2007, the Commission voted to conduct full reviews.
