ITC Finds no Injury from Light-Walled Pipe and Tube

The United States International Trade Commission (ITC) has found no real or threatened material injury associated with light-walled rectangular pipe and tube imported from Mexico and Turkey. All six Commissioners voted in the negative.

Products covered by the investigations included light-walled rectangular (LWR) pipe and tube from Mexico and Turkey, which are welded carbon-quality pipe and tube of rectangular (including square) cross-section, having a wall thickness of less than 0.156 inch. Rectangular cross sections range from 0.375 x 0.625 inches to 2 x 6 inches, and square cross sections range from 0.375 to 4 inches, regardless of specification. The U.S. Department of Commerce had previously determined that such products from Mexico and Turkey were sold in the United States at less than fair value.

Petitioners in the case included California Steel and Tube, City of Industry, Calif.; Hannibal Industries, Los Angeles, Calif.; Leavitt Tube Co., Chicago, Ill.; Maruichi American Corp., Santa Fe Springs, Calif.; Northwest Pipe, Co., Portland, Ore.; Searing Industries, Inc., Rancho Cucamongo, Calf.; Vest Inc., Los Angeles, Calif.; and Western Tube & Conduit Corp., Long Beach, Calif.

As a result of the Commission's negative determinations, no antidumping duty orders will be issued on imports of these products from Mexico and Turkey.
