In a statement, Primetals said the system, which enables continuous rolling, includes a deburring station, extraction equipment, induction furnace and supporting machinery. Primetals also will supply the hydraulic and electrical systems and automation package. 

The system is being designed to support 900,000 metric tons of annual bar production. 

“ERT-EBROS is installed between the reheating furnace and the first roll stand and uses a flash welding process with fast and intensive heating. This results in solid-state joining of the billets without the need for additional filler metal,” the company said. 

Start-up is scheduled for September 2018.
