Investments in Technology Drive Customer Satisfaction at Michigan Seamless Tube
06/27/2012 - Michigan Seamless Tube continues to provide customers with unparalleled value by investing in new technologies that enhance the quality of its products, shorten lead times and save customers money over the long term.
A commitment to customer service and innovation have served as the cornerstone of Michigan Seamless Tube’s (MST) success since its inception over 85 years ago. Today, the South Lyon, Michigan-based manufacturer of high-quality carbon and alloy seamless cold-drawn pipe and tube, continues to provide customers with unparalleled value by investing in new technologies that enhance the quality of its products, shorten lead times and save customers money over the long term.
“We have always strived to go beyond the status quo and investing in new technology that allows us to better serve our customers has been an integral part of our continued success over the years,” said Ted Fairley, vice president of sales and marketing for MST. “Our modernized 320,000 square foot facility features a number of advanced technology-driven systems and processes that enable us to quickly process our clients’ exact order specifications. These investments differentiate us from our competitors and position us well for continued growth.”
Implemented three years ago, UV ProTech is a prime example of MST investing in technology to better meet its customers’ ever-expanding needs. The state-of-the-art ultraviolet (UV) coating, which can be applied to the outer diameter of any of MST’s tube or pipe products, offers an enhanced appearance and superior protection against rust and corrosion. Adding another layer of convenience and reliability, the UV coating enables customers to store their tube and pipe products outside for approximately one year without having to worry about the integrity of the material being compromised by weather conditions.
During the application process, the UV coating thickness is controlled through consistent vacuum pressure and incoming air speed. This proprietary vacuum system is ideal for achieving consistent film thickness around each tube that leaves the production line. Each seamless tube and pipe treated with UV ProTech boasts an enhanced appearance that reflects positively on each customer’s business.
