Induction Heating Equipment Maker Fulfills Order for Strip Coatings Dryer
01/15/2016 - U.S.-based Ajax TOCCO Magnethermic has shipped an induction-heating dryer system to a steel strip galvanizing producer in China, the company announced.
According to Ajax, the 1,900 kilowatt, 100,000 hertz system will be used to dry coatings.
“This high-powered induction dryer is designed to heat steel strip (between) 0.40 mm and 2.5 mm thick and (between) 800 mm and 1676 mm wide at a rate of 220 meters per minute, or 116 metric tons pwe hour,” the company said in a statement.
“The equipment will provide a temperature rise of 90 degrees Celsius.”
The company said the system was designed as a single, unitized package assembly that included the frequency converter, capacitor cabinet and a single-turn heating coil. Delivery also included the interface I/O, the heating control model and a water-based cooling system.
Because of the design, the installer needed only put the system in place and connect power and water lines and the controls to the respective takeover points, which minimized on-site installation time, the company said.
Based in Warren, Ohio, USA, Ajax TOCCO Magnethermic is a subsidiary of Park-Ohio Holdings Corp. The company designs and manufactures induction heating and melting equipment for a variety of industries. It also provides a range of services, including laboratory process development, preventive maintenance, equipment repair and parts, among others.
