Indonesian Steelmaker Orders Coil Equalizer
01/15/2016 - U.S.-based Delta Steel Technologies has won a contract to design and build one of its coil equalizers for Indonesia’s Gunung Steel Group, the company has announced.
The equalizer is designed to remove coil shape defects, including edge wave, center buckle and camber. The Gunung Group equalizer will be capable of processing strips up to 6 mm thick and 1,600 mm wide, Delta said.
“With the addition of the equalizer, Gunung will be able to offer their customers a perfectly flat coil even when rolling thin and wide,” the company said in a statement.
Delta said Gunung became interested in the processing technology after seeing a Delta equalizer in operation at a Hyundai Steel plant in South Korea.
“Hyundai commissioned their Delta equalizer in mid-2013, and it has surpassed the original production estimates due to the demand for the higher-quality flat product,” Delta said.
Gunung's line is scheduled for installation in late 2016. Located in Irving, Texas, Delta Steel Technologies designs and builds coil processing equipment and systems.
