Indiana Harbor Doubles Shipments to Sister Plant
06/11/2018 - ArcelorMittal’s Indiana Harbor facility has achieved its goal of shipping 1 million tons’ worth of slabs to ArcelorMittal’s joint venture finishing operation in Alabama.
In an announcement, Indiana Harbor executives said the achievement is significant because it meant doubling shipments to AM/NS Calvert in a year.
“Indiana Harbor became a significant slab supplier beginning in January of 2017,” said Gary Mohr, ArcelorMittal USA vice president for supply chain management. “It required uninterrupted material flow to meet AM/NS Calvert production goals and fulfill our customers’ orders.
“It was a real team effort and classic supply chain management story. One break or weak link in the chain and we would not have achieved the plan,” he added.
