Indian Steel Producers Face Lower Demand
03/31/2020 - The COVID-19 pandemic and national lockdown will weaken India steel demand in India and could lead to an inventory build-up that pressures prices downward, reports the IANS news service.
Citing a forecast from the ICRA credit ratings agency, the news service said most large domestic steelmakers are producing through the lockdown, given the high shutdown costs. But at the same time, demand from key sectors is seeing muted or negative growth, the news service said.
