India Wants Foreign Steel Producers to Build, Not Buy
09/07/2017 - As India looks to expand its steel capacity, it is encouraging foreign producers to undertake domestic expansion projects rather than buying up distressed assets.
“Change in management does not make much of a difference from the ministry’s point of view because total volume of steel produced remains the same. We are very keen that investments should come for expansion of the total capacity,” Aruna Sharma, India’s steel secretary, told The (India) Economic Times.
