India Steel Ministry not concerned about U.S. tariffs . . . yet

The India Steel Ministry said that the U.S. tariffs do not pose an “immediate threat” to their domestic industry. Steel Secretary Aruna Sharma said India’s steel exports to the United States are very low – less than 0.9 million tonnes – and wouldn’t have an initial impact on production.

However, speaking in New Delhi at a mining summit, Ms. Sharma said the potential EU tariffs are concerning, with India having objections to certain points. She indicated that the Indian Commerce Ministry has opened a dialogue with the U.S. administration regarding the tariffs.
