IMS Names General Manager of Global Sales & Projects

In that capacity, Mr. Busch will be responsible for the performances of IMS subsidiaries and sales agents throughout Europe, North America, Asia and South America. He will also oversee the company’s project management activities worldwide. Mr. Busch has held a number of management and engineering positions with IMS since joining the company in 1988. Prior to assuming his current position, Mr. Busch spent 13 years as general manager of cold mill applications. He graduated from the University of Paderborn with a degree in electrical engineering.

“Jörg’s combination of technical expertise and sound business judgment makes him the ideal person to direct our sales, product development and installation activities,” says Rainer Fackert, IMS’s CEO. “Throughout his career, he has demonstrated exceptional knowledge of all aspects of our business, and a strong ability to work with colleagues and customers. I am confident that, under his leadership, we will strengthen our ability to generate substantial opportunities.”

Mr. Busch’s new responsibilities will include increasing demand for the company’s recently-developed line of flatness, width and thickness gauges used in cold mills and metal service centers. These compact, affordable measuring systems feature modular design, are easily retrofitted to existing lines, have no standards magazines and are maintenance-free due to their greaseless, high-voltage cable design.

“I am eager to help my colleagues and our strategic partners build upon the success we have enjoyed,” says Mr. Busch. “I am also grateful to the IMS management team for increasing their trust in me during these dynamic and challenging times. I look forward to helping IMS remain the gold standard for non-contact measuring systems.”

IMS is a leading manufacturer of non-contact x-ray, isotope and optical measuring systems that gauge the flatness, thickness, width and other dimensions of ferrous and non-ferrous metals. IMS gauges are found worldwide in hot and cold mills and service centers, often with multiple units on single production lines. IMS supports its quality systems and equipment with a comprehensive array of parts, service and training that helps customers optimize productivity. The company was founded in 1980 in Heiligenhaus, Germany, near Düsseldorf. It employs more than 400 people on five continents. Its North American headquarters are in Mars, Pa., near Pittsburgh.  From that location, the company operates its only production facility outside of Germany, and also offers gauge training and repair courses.
