Illinois Congressman Calls Alton Steel 'Success Story'

Less than a week after being sworn in as a congressman, U.S. Rep. Bill Enyart got a firsthand look Tuesday at one of his district's business success stories.

Linnemeyer gave the visitors a 45-minute presentation about the history of the plant, which was called Alton Steel when it originally opened in 1911. The company later became Laclede Steel, closing in 1998 and entering bankruptcy in 2001. The company emerged from bankruptcy in 2003 and resumed using the Alton Steel name...
