Less than a week after being sworn in as a congressman, U.S. Rep. Bill Enyart got a firsthand look Tuesday at one of his district's business success stories.

Enyart toured Alton Steel, where he met with CEO and president Charles Linnemeyer to discuss how he plans to make jobs and a strong economic future for Southern Illinois his top priorities...

Linnemeyer gave the visitors a 45-minute presentation about the history of the plant, which was called Alton Steel when it originally opened in 1911. The company later became Laclede Steel, closing in 1998 and entering bankruptcy in 2001. The company emerged from bankruptcy in 2003 and resumed using the Alton Steel name...
