Hyundai Steel Signs Off on Bar Mill Upgrade
08/10/2016 - South Korea’s Hyundai Steel has issued the final acceptance certificate for a new 3-roll sizing mill at its bar mill in Pohang, according to the contractor on the project.
According to SMS group, installation and commissioning of its 380/5 Precision Sizing Mill were completed earlier this year. The new mill will be used to roll special bar quality bars in diameters of between 25 and 83 mm.
SMS supplied the mechanical and electrical equipment and an automation package. It also equipped the roll workshop.
In a statement, SMS said its Precision Sizing Mills are characterized by a highly dynamic hydraulic adjustment of the roll gap. The mills allow for adjustment under load, and, by upshot, fully automatic rolling to within very close tolerances.
