Hertwich Engineering to Supply Homogenizing, Sawing Plants for Vedanta Aluminum

Vedanta Aluminum Ltd., India, has placed a major order with Hertwich Engineering (HE), Austria, for the supply and commissioning of three homogenizing and sawing facilities for its Jharsuguda II expansion project.
 
Hertwich Engineering’s scope of supply comprises three nearly identical continuous homogenizing lines, each complete with air cooling, ultrasonic inspection, log saw (long and short type) and packing equipment, as well as all roller tables, log handling equipment and the complete control and automation systems. Hertwich Engineering also will be responsible for erection supervision and commissioning.
 
Together, the three new plants will have a total annual design production is 384,000 tonnes of billets with diameters of 152 to 229 mm.

Commissioning will take place in two stages, scheduled for May and July 2010.
