Herr-Voss Stamco to Provide Coil Prep Line for Ipsco

Ipsco has awarded a contract to Herr-Voss Stamco to provide a hot band coil preparation line.

The coil prep line will be designed to process incoming hot band coils weighing up to 96,000 pounds at a maximum width of 80 inches. Material thickness will range from 0.250 through 0.750 inch at material yields ranging from 40,000 through 100,000 PSI. The line will be capable of running at a maximum speed of 150 feet per minute.

Herr-Voss Stamco will provide the entry and exit coil handling equipment, the unwind unit, pinch roll/flattener, side guides, tension stand, and the rewind unit for this capital project, which was announced by Ipsco in 2006. Herr-Voss Stamco will also incorporate an Ipsco-supplied crop shear, welder and edge milling equipment into the line.

Coils processed on the new coil preparation line will be used as feedstock for Ipsco’s existing spiral-welded pipe mills and 24-inch ERW mill in Regina, Sask.
