Herr-Voss Stamco Commissions Two New Lines at Cascadia Metals
03/31/2014 - Herr-Voss Stamco® recently completed the commissioning of two new state-of-the-art processing lines at Cascadia Metals in Brandon, Man., Canada, including a cut-to-length line and a Strand Extensioner® slitting line.
The heart of the new slitting line is Herr-Voss Stamco’s Strand Extensioner. The Strand Extensioner, based on Herr-Voss Stamco’s world renowned leveling technology, provides evenly rewound coils while also providing leveling and burr reduction to the slit material. What makes the Strand Extensioner process unique is that it allows the end user to improve the quality of the slit mults beyond that of the master coil. The Strand Extensioner also eliminated the need for a deep looping pit. The line processes material with a thickness range of .013” up to .25” with an incoming coil capacity of 50,000 lbs. x 72” wide. The slitting line also includes Herr-Voss Stamco’s quick change injector slitter head system which allows operators to efficiently change slitter heads out of the line.
The backbone of the new cut-to-length line is the industry leading Herr-Voss Stamco Precision Leveler® which processes material with a thickness range of .024” to .135”. This is Cascadia’s third Herr-Voss Stamco Precision Leveler purchase in the past two years. The line also incorporates Herr-Voss Stamco’s proprietary Electro Discharge Texturing (EDT), which coupled with Herr-Voss Stamco’s high speed shear forms the state-of-the-art cut-to-length system.
