Hebei Iron & Steel Begins Boosting Sales, Production at Serbian Mill
08/30/2016 - Nearly two months after acquiring Serbia’s ailing Železara Smederevo steel works, Hebei Iron & Steel has managed to lift the facility’s monthly sales and is targeting 1.7 million tons of production in 2017, reports Xinhua, China’s official news agency.
According to the news agency, the mill increased its sales on a tonnage basis by nearly 26% in July, reaching 102,000 tons. It estimates that it will sell 126,000 tons in August.
The company told Xinhua that it intends to retain the mill’s 5,000 employees as it tries to ramp up to full capacity. The company has promised to invest EUR300 million in the facility.
