Hatch IAS and Butech Bliss Upgrading Libertas Copper’s Hot Reversing Mill
07/10/2014 - In an example of two specialty companies working together to achieve a positive result to the metals industry, Hatch IAS and Butech Bliss are providing Libertas Copper LLC (Hussey Copper) an upgrade for its hot reversing mill located in Leetsdale, Pa.
This important hot mill upgrade is to provide Libertas Copper with a hydraulic automatic gauge control system along with new hydraulic top mounted roll force cylinders, dedicated high pressure hydraulic power unit valve stands and spare roll force cylinders.
Hatch IAS is supplying a state-of-the-art Achieva Control System using the latest control platform. The Achieva System is based on a Rockwell, Allen Bradley ControlLogix Solution. This very open platform allows the operators and maintenance engineers to access the system code using ladder logic and function blocks to make any additional changes required to improve performance.
The project is being supported from the Hatch IAS Aliquippa offices.
A complete factory test was recently carried out with the customer at the Butech Bliss facility proving the Hatch IAS Achieva Controls along with the Butech Bliss roll force cylinders to minimize any possible start-up risk.
Butech Bliss is providing the complete hydraulic roll force package for this project including the custom designed, fully double acting roll force actuators with integral hydraulic manifold assembly, valve/accumulator stand and new high pressure hydraulic power supply. Butech Bliss is also supplying the mill top platform for easy access to the new actuators. Together with the Hatch IAS control system, Libertas Copper will enjoy a state of the art hydraulic roll force positioning system.
