Harsco Signs Contracts With Argentinian, Mexican Mills
09/06/2017 - Mill services contractor Harsco Corp. has signed multi-year deals worth approximately US$50 million with two Latin American steelmakers.
In a statement, Harsco said that under one of the agreements, it will begin providing scrap handling and processing services at Ternium Siderar’s basic oxygen furnace-based mill in San Nicolas, Argentina.
The agreement is for five years and begins in January 2018.
Through the other agreement, the Deacero electric arc furnace (EAF) mill in Celaya, Mexico, renewed its partnership with Harsco for seven more years. Harsco’s services there include molten slag transport and metal recovery.
"Both of these contracts are with well-positioned, substantial customers at the leading edge of their markets. They ably reflect our continuing strategies and objectives for growth in this region, and for our Harsco business overall," said Harsco Metals & Minerals chief operating officer Chris Whistler.
