Harsco Expands Services to Middle East Producers

Harsco Corp. announced new contracts valued at close to $5 million over three years in the Gulf Region of the Middle East.

Harsco, which operates through a Harsco-controlled joint venture partnership in Bahrain called AluServ, is one of the region’s leading processors of aluminum dross. To help support the ongoing expansion of aluminum output in the region, Harsco will install a state-of-the-art Rotating Tilting Furnace (RTF) that will make it the largest dross processor in the Gulf Region. The new RTF facility will be integrated with a new salt cake processing plant the company is installing that will give the region an environmentally responsive, zero-waste solution for recycling aluminum dross.

“Increasing our environmental solutions presence in the Gulf Region’s aluminum industry aligns well with our twin strategies for broadening the non-ferrous footprint of our Harsco Metals business while building strong and expandable positions within the world’s emerging market economies,” said Harsco Metals CEO Galdino Claro, in announcing the latest contracts.

Harsco said the new contracts will make it one of the leading environmental services providers to the Gulf Region’s growing aluminum industry. The company expects to pursue additional growth opportunities as the Gulf Region continues to benefit from investments in new plant construction and expansion from some of the world’s leading aluminum producers.
